Privacy Policy
Last updated:
ZapCount is operated by Bino Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use ZapCount on the web, our iOS app, or our Android app, and how we use it.
1. Images You Upload
When you upload an image, it is transmitted to our servers and processed by our AI counting pipeline to detect and count objects. As part of this pipeline, images may be sent to third-party AI model providers for object detection, including OpenAI and Anthropic. In certain cases, processing may be handled by RunPod, a third-party GPU infrastructure provider.
Uploaded images may be stored on our servers and used to improve the Service, including for training or fine-tuning AI models. If you are signed in, recent counting results and annotated images may also be saved to your history using Firebase Storage so you can review past counts.
2. Information We Collect Automatically
When you use ZapCount, we may automatically collect:
- A randomly generated session identifier
- Basic counting event data (object counted, count result, image dimensions, processing times)
- Your language preference
- Page URL or screen name and timestamp of each counting event
- Device type, operating system, and app version (on mobile)
This data helps us understand how the service is used and improve counting accuracy. It is not linked to your personal identity unless you are signed in.
3. Account and Authentication
Our mobile apps use Firebase Authentication to let you create an account and sign in. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, Firebase may collect your email address, display name, and profile photo. We use this information solely to identify your account and personalize your experience.
Your authentication credentials are managed by Firebase and are not directly accessible to us. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app.
4. Analytics, Error Tracking, and Infrastructure
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Analytics — to understand usage patterns across web and mobile apps.
- Firebase Crashlytics — to detect and diagnose crashes on our mobile apps. Crashlytics collects device information, crash logs, and stack traces.
- Firebase Authentication — to manage user sign-in and account creation on mobile.
- Firebase Database & Storage — to store user accounts, counting history, and result images for signed-in users.
- Google Analytics — to understand web traffic. Analytics cookies are disabled by default on the website.
- Sentry — to detect and diagnose errors on the web. Sentry may collect technical information about your browser and session when an error occurs.
- OpenAI — as a third-party AI model provider for object detection from images. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic — as a third-party AI model provider for object detection from images. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- RunPod — as a fallback GPU infrastructure provider for AI processing. Images sent to RunPod are processed and not retained.
- Google Fonts — to load typefaces on the web. Google may receive your IP address when fonts are requested.
5. Purchases and Payments
ZapCount offers in-app purchases through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). All payment transactions are processed entirely by Apple or Google, respectively. We do not collect or store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details.
We receive a confirmation of your purchase (such as the product identifier and transaction status) to unlock features within the app. Apple and Google's own privacy policies govern how they handle your payment information.
6. Local and On-Device Storage
On the web, we use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your language preference, session identifier, and certain UI preferences such as whether you have dismissed the app install banner. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
On mobile, the app may store preferences and cached data on your device. You can clear this data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share information with the third-party service providers listed above, strictly for the purposes described in this policy.
8. Data Retention
Uploaded images may be retained on our servers to improve the Service, including for training or fine-tuning AI models. Anonymous counting event logs are also retained for analytics purposes. If you have an account, your counting history and associated images are kept until you delete them or your account is closed.
9. Children's Privacy
ZapCount is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ZapCount after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
